The unit provides expertise in amputee, spinal, stroke, acquired brain injury, orthopaedic and other disabilities. It also provides extensive geriatric evaluation and management service. The interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams conduct comprehensive assessment, identify client centred goals and establish the rehabilitation program plan for each patient. Families and carers are recognised as an integral part of the rehabilitation program and are regularly invited to participate in the process and plan future management.

Rehabilitation is about providing an environment where patients can help themselves to recuperate from an illness, trauma or operation. To achieve the best outcome for the patient, staff provide guidance, encouragement, emotional support and timely assistance for all patients and their carers, family and friends. Rehabilitation is also about providing information for health promotion and improvement (social status) following discharge.
