Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

Bendigo Health values consumer participation and feedback and recognises the importance of consumer, carer and community participation in decision making about service planning and delivery.

The Community Advisory Committee is a sub-committee of the Bendigo Health board of directors. The role of the committee is to ensure effective community participation across Bendigo Health and to assist in monitoring the quality of services provided.

The committee is comprised of eight community members, two Bendigo Health board members and one executive staff member. The community members are residents of the Bendigo district who represent a broad range of community views and interests.

The committee meets every second month and provides feedback, perspective, ideas and advice to Bendigo Health board of directors ensuring that the community’s views are taken into account in decision making processes in line with strategic directions.

It provides comment on issues referred from the board and contributes to the Quality of Care Report.

The committee has developed a Community Participation Plan and implementation strategy in line with the directions of the Bendigo Health Strategic Plan.

Other activities of the Community Advisory Committee include:

  • Representation on the Quality Care Council, Health Promotion Committee and Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee
  • Participation in conferences and forums such as the Australasian Conference on Safety and Quality in Healthcare
  • Monitoring of patient satisfaction reports and patient feedback.

Anyone interested in bringing a community perspective to decisions that are made within Bendigo Health or anyone interested in opportunities to participate in focus groups, surveys or projects can provide their name and postal address to elwilson@bendigohealth.org.au.
