Carshalton House forms part of the Golden Oaks Residential Complex. The hostel is part of Bendigo Health and is fully accredited. It is a purpose built hostel of 45 beds, 44 permanent rooms and one respite room. Carshalton House provides residential care to older people who require low-level care.
Carshalton House reception office is open from 9.00 am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
The hostel opened in 1992 and is made up of five houses, each containing a kitchen and dining area accommodating nine people. The houses are linked by a common dining/lounge area.
All the accommodation of single bedrooms and ensuite facilities is at ground floor level. The surrounding gardens, accessible wide verandas and tasetful sitting rooms, give each home an individual feel and pleasant atmosphere for relaxing.
Accommodation is also available for married couples. Staff are happy to arrange appointment times for prospective residents, family and next of kin to look through the hostel.
Carshalton House has an emphasis on independence, resident self-determination and choice. Residents are actively involved in decision-making and have been instrumental in initiating many quality improvement activities.
Home and community-based activities and caring, supportive staff all combine to make Carshalton House the preferred choice in hostel accommodation for many Bendigo residents.

Most residents will pay a combination of several fees and charges. Fees are calculated and regulated by the government.
