Golden Oaks Nursing Home
Golden Oaks Nursing Home forms part of the Golden Oaks Residential Complex and is part of Bendigo Health.  It is a high level care facility and has accommodation for 60 residents, all at ground level.

Golden Oaks Nursing Home reception office is open from 9.00 am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Choice is important at Golden Oaks Nursing Home. When admitted for care, an intensive history taking process is carried out on each person, to learn about their individual needs and wants. This information is used to develop an individual care plan in collaboration with the resident and their family.

The bedrooms are shared with two beds in each room and shared ensuite facilities. Four single rooms are available for residents with special requirements. Golden Oaks Nursing Home provides a warm, home like environment that encompasses a central lounge/dining area and two U shaped passageways each accommodating 30 residents.

A recreation room, sunroom and two courtyards are available for residents, family and friends to relax in. All bedrooms have large windows with views of the garden, bush environment or with a courtyard view. The surrounding gardens and internal courtyards are accessible for all clients to enjoy. The wide, shaded verandas provide plenty of opportunity for secluded visits or quiet times for reflection.

Quality of Care:

Golden Oaks Nursing Home is a high level care facility. Qualified nurses work to meet the needs of the residents. The quality of the care the team provides was recognised by the Commonwealth Accreditation Agency as meeting all 44 of set standards for Aged Care in 2003.

Staff are highly skilled in caring for the aged person. Care is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by registered nurses. Personal Services Assistants are responsible for the delivery of food, laundry and keeping the working environment an exceptionally clean and pleasant to live and work.

Leisure:

Specialist staff are employed to provide leisure activities to residents, to enhance their quality of life and to meet all assessed requirements. By discovering past interests, hobbies, employment, family status and present interests, staff are able to develop programmes that add the spark to the resident's day. The covered BBQ area which leads off the sunroom is used for special occasions and is available for families to book for functions.

Residents are actively involved in decision making and are encouraged to be instrumental in initiating quality improvement activities. Golden Oaks has lifestyle workers and a wonderful team of volunteers. A calendar of activities, outings and special events is planned each month.

The activity program is designed to be therapeutic and provides the opportunity for stimulation and meaningful social interaction whilst promoting expression of the resident's individuality and independence. Input and participation of family members in the activity program is welcome and appreciated.

The home is fully compliant with aged care accreditation standards.
