Carer Support & Commonwealth Carer Respite Centre
Carer Support Services provides a 'first contact' information point for carers to assist and support them in accessing services including respite care.

In Australia there are around 2.6 million people looking after a parent, child, family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, is frail aged, suffers from dementia or a chronic illness.

Looking after someone can be exhausting and seem never ending. Some carers have support, however many feel very much alone.

The service can offer
  • A regional service from Mildura to Gisborne that provides carers and carer support groups with information and resources
  • Information and support to carers
  • Assistance with individual respite planning
  • Respite care co-ordination
  • Residential respite booking service
  • Someone to talk things over with
  • Information on your rights as a carer
  • Advocacy
  • Emergency respite planning.

Our staff are committed to

  • Recognising and strengthening relationships between carers and the people they care for
  • Ensuring that dealings with us are strictly confidential
  • The importance of timeout/respite for carers
  • Carers being involved in decisions about their support needs
  • Helping carers to find a balance between caring for others and caring for themselves.
Carer Support Services is located on level one of the white administration building of Bendigo Health's Anne Caudle Centre campus. Click here for a map (reference C5).
