The role of the Health Promotion Team is to deliver programs which benefit the general community in promoting positive wellbeing, reducing preventable illness and lowering overall health care expenditures.
The Health Promotion Team plans, promotes and facilitates quality health promotion programs to the general community in accordance with Department of Human Services, PCP guidelines and the core values for integrated health promotion which include:
Programs should aim to reduce social inequities and injustice; emphasise active consumer and community participation; empower individuals and communities; consider difference in gender and culture; and work in collaboration actively seeking partnerships.
Health Promotion Unit aligns with Bendigo Health, Health Promotion Steering Committee in enhancing the capacity of staff in all Bendigo health services to implement health promotion activities that contribute to the health and wellbeing of staff and patients. This supports Bendigo Health's seven key themes as outlined in the Strategic Plan 2008 - 2013.
