Veterans' Affairs Network
The Veterans' Affairs Network provides a service to veterans, widows, family members and carers of veterans. The aim is to promote independence and quality of life for the veteran community by helping to provide access to both Department of Veterans' Affairs and available community services.
The service covers the Loddon Mallee region excluding Mildura. The Bendigo office is open 10am-1pm Monday and Tuesday and appointments can be made for other times. Outreach visits are held on a regular basis in Swan Hill, Kerang, Echuca, Charlton, Kyabram, Castlemaine and Maryborough.
The team is made up of a full-time community adviser and a part-time veteran's adviser. The community adviser works mainly with the organisations and groups such as service providers and ex-service organisations. The role of the veterans adviser focuses more on one-to-one contact with veterans and their families to help with an understanding of and access to, both Department of Veterans' Affairs entitlements and to other services available in the community.
