Social Work
The Social Work team offers a comprehensive range of services to address the emotional & psychosocial aspects of health.

Social work services are available in acute wards; inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation; psychiatric and community settings.

Working in conjunction with other health professionals, social work staff assist clients to reach their best possible health outcomes.

Client issues may relate to:

  • Current health issues
  • Personal adjustment issues
  • Family issues
  • Anxiety/depression
  • Loss, grief and/or trauma
  • Suicide threats/attempts
  • Drug and alcohol issues
  • Finances
  • Accommodation
  • Advocacy

Social Work staff can:

  • Offer counselling, support and information to individuals, partners, carers and families
  • With care and understanding, find resolutions for problems causing concern
  • Assist clients to gain the confidence to take responsibility for and control of their health and wellbeing
  • Where appropriate, refer clients to services and resources including support groups

Talking to a social worker can assist clients to gain greater insight into issues causing them concern. With the assistance of a social worker, clients can work through their issues, reducing feelings of anxiety and stress and increasing confidence and coping abilities.
