Childbirth Parenting Education Programs

 
 
 
 

This program provides current education and information classes for women who are pregnant. Your support person is encouraged to attend all programs.

A childbirth/parenting educator facilitates the classes. The aim of the program is to identify what you wish discussed and to assist in gaining knowledge and confidence to make informed choices during your pregnancy, birth and parenting.

The following programs are offered:

Primigravida classes - for women having their first baby.
In these classes information is provided on pregnancy, labour, birth and parenting. The classes will assist in gaining confidence and to have goals and objectives in attending classes met. The program has objectives (main topics) which we achieve with these classes. Classes are held in the evening and a day class is offered on specified Sundays.

VBAC classes (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean)
For women who have had a previous caesarean birth and wish to have a vaginal birth. These classes are offered on a regular basis. 

Refresher class

For women who have had a baby before and want a refresher for themselves or their partner.

Multiple birth information session

Run twice yearly in conjunction with the Multiple Birth Association (venue advised on booking). Enquiries to childbirth educator. 

Self paced education

 

Enquiries to childbirth educator. In conjunction and under development with the Bendigo Library.

A quit referral to assist to quit or reduce smoking can be made by staff to Bendigo Community Health Services or Quit Victoria.

Childbirth/parenting educator - may be contacted for one on one support and advocacy depending on circumstances.

The childbirth/parenting education program options and dates are provided when booking in to Maternity Services at Bendigo Health.
