Psychiatric Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (PCATT)
The Psychiatric Crisis Assessment & Treatment Team operates 24 hours a day providing urgent community-based assessment and short-term treatment to people in psychiatric crisis. The team consists of mental health clinicians and psychiatrists.

 

 

The Psychiatric Crisis Assessment & Treatment Team:

  • Provides best practice care and treatment to people with acute psychiatric disorders
  • Arranges and conducts crisis psychiatric assessments
  • Provides an accessible public acute psychiatric assessment and treatment service in the least possible restrictive environment
  • Provides a comprehensive acute psychiatric service in a setting which is familiar to the client and which maximises the use of supports available within the client's own community and social environment
  • Works collaboratively with clients and their families or carers in the assessment and treatment of mental disorder.
  • Arranges collaborative and seamless transfer of care to other services when appropriate
  • Facilitates and screens admissions to inpatient units
