Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU)
The Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU) is a short stay unit providing medical patients with fast assessment, clinical care and intensive treatment in the first 48 hours of admission.
The unit treats eligible inpatients such as those with respiratory, renal, cardiac, neurological and oncological conditions.
MAPU has its own dedicated team of health professionals consisting of nurses, medical staff, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, dietician and social worker.
The team comprehensively assesses patients and develops a plan of care for treatment.
At the completion of the 48 hour period patients leave MAPU, either by discharge or transfer with a detailed treatment plan in place for ongoing management of their condition.
Admission to the unit is via Bendigo Health's Emergency Department.
