The continuing nurse education (CNE) program
The Department of Health provides funds for the CNE program. Bendigo Health’s Collaborative Health Education and Research Centre (CHERC) co-ordinates the Loddon Mallee region’s CNE program excluding Mildura Base Hospital.
The CNE program provides acute education at no cost for nurses working in participating health services. Click here for a list of the participating health services and contact information. Other nurses and non-nurses are welcome to participate in CNE events but in accordance with the funding guidelines, they can and in most cases, will be charged a nominal fee.
A core topic curriculum is set every three years. Below is a list of the core CNE topics for the July 2008 until June 2011 funding period.
(Access is only available to nurses working in participating health services.)
All CNE study days are awarded continuing nurse education points as part of the Royal College of Nursing, Australia Life Long Learning Program (3LP). All core nursing education is displayed on the continuing nurse education calendar.
