Renal Nurse Practitioner Collaborative

The Renal Nurse Practitioner (NP) Collaborative is a funding initiative of the Nurse Policy Branch division of the Department of Human Services (DHS) Victoria. It was established in August 2008 and is convened by Bendigo Health.

The Collaborative’s purpose is to assist the sites in receipt of DHS funding to develop renal Nurse Practitioner models of care. Previous experience with the development of Nurse Practitioner roles has shown the collaborative approach contributes to the success of implementing Nurse Practitioner services. Collaboratives create a network to share knowledge and experiences that impact on the implementation of services.

Collaborative membership is open to anyone interested in the development of Nurse Practitioner services in renal. Four formal meetings are held each year. The meetings are held prior to the Renal Society of Australasia, Victorian Branch, meetings at the same venue. Each formal meeting includes a specific renal education topic and members communicate informally by email.
