Minister announces new Bendigo Health Chair New Bendigo Board Chair Dr Ewa Piejko with former Chair Bob Cameron
After almost seven years, Bob Cameron is stepping down as Bendigo Health Board Chair, a role which is has been given to Dr Ewa Piejko.

On Thursday April 28 the Health Minister announced Bob Cameron would be stepping down as Chair of Bendigo Health Board of Directors. Taking over the role is Bendigo Health board member and general practitioner Ewa Piejko.

Mr Cameron said Dr Piejko would be a wonderful asset to Bendigo Health. Being a GP, the new chair understands the health system but as part of the board Dr Piejko also understands Bendigo Health, he said.

“I have been chair for nearly seven years and during that time Bendigo Health has transitioned as we are now in our new hospital, we’re refurbishing the old hospital, and the future looks really good.”

Mr Cameron thanked the team at Bendigo Health for the work they had done during his tenure. The increase of some 1850 full-time, part-time and casual staff over that time is indicative of the dedication the health service has to doing its best to look after the community, he said.

Mr Cameron will remain on the board as Chair of the building committee.

Dr Piejko said she was proud of the appointment and looking forward to her new role as chair of Bendigo Health Board.

“It’s a great opportunity to be part of a great team which will continue to build on the service provided by Bendigo Health," she said.

“There will be challenges as we continue to grow. There will be more people attending our services, and the Royal Commission into Aged Care and Mental Health highlighted that these areas are a priority for our community where we need to ensure we do our best for our patients.

“We have a great facility, and an excellent staff and leadership team and we plan to continue to work with the community and the Loddon Mallee Health Network providing excellent care to every person, every time.”
