Paediatric Homecare Program

The Paediatric Homecare team are closely linked with the Children’s Ward and Women’s and Children’s Services.

What we do

We provide paediatric nursing support to infants and children in our local community and outer Bendigo regions including Swan Hill, Echuca, Kyneton, Castlemaine, Maryborough and Heathcote. 

The Paediatric Homecare Program provides many community based services including:

Family Choice/Homecare Program
in consultation with Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne.
Providing in home carer training for children with disabilities and specific complex medical care needs. This service is funded by child’s disability package/Royal Children’s Hospital.

Schoolcare Program
in consultation with Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne.
School based child specific training for staff: eg. gastrostomy/naso-gastric feeds, suctioning, tracheostomy care etc. This is funded by DEECD & RCH.

Paediatric Post Acute Care (PAC)
Home visits to babies, children and adolescents following a recent stay in hospital or presentation to the Emergency Department with a need for follow up support and nursing care. These visits are funded by Government.

Who we care for

Neonates, children and Adolescents (0-17yrs) in our local community and outer Bendigo regions including Swan Hill, Echuca, Kyneton, Castlemaine, Maryborough and Heathcote.

What to expect

A referral is required by Nursing or Medical staff to this service.  Paediatric nurses can then assist with your child’s care needs either via phone, outpatient clinic or home visit.
