Youth Mental Health Service

What to expect

The Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (YMHWS) is a tertiary mental health and wellbeing service providing comprehensive mental health assessment, treatment and support for young people aged 18 to 25 years living in the Loddon Mallee region.

YMHWS takes a flexible, client-centred approach to working with young people, collaborating with the young person's supports to ensure better long term outcomes.

Young people engaged with this service will have regular mental state examinations and risk assessments by their lead clinician, which will assist in informing treatment planning. Reviews with a consultant psychiatrist are also provided through the service.

The focus is on early intervention, treatment and stabilisation to ensure illnesses are less likely to persist untreated and result in long-term disability. the lead clinicians coordinate services, facilitate implementation of the treatment plan and work with the young person, their family/carers and others in providing an integrated service response.
