Hospital Outreach Post-Suicidal Engagement (HOPE)

Who we are

HOPE (Hospital Outreach Post-Suicidal Engagement) is a community- based suicide prevention program which supports people adult patients aged 18 years and over living in the Bendigo region with their recovery from a suicide crisis. 

What we do

The aim of the HOPE program is to support people for a period of up to 12 weeks, providing assertive and coordinated care post-discharge, via both outreach and clinic-based therapeutic interventions to reduce the risk of suicide re-attempts and deaths by suicide.

HOPE is a multidisciplinary team that consists of mental health clinicians, wellbeing workers and peer support workers. 

How to access this service

HOPE operates Monday to Friday from  8:30am to 5pm.

Referrals to the HOPE program can only be made directly from another HOPE Program, by a mental health clinician after an assessment either in the Bendigo Health emergency department, inpatient units or via the Short-Term Treatment Team.

How to refer a patient

HOPE operates from Monday to Friday from 8:30am until 5pm.
